When we arrived in Shanghai, China it was a big move for myself and my family. It helped alot to be able to write down our experiences and e-mail them to our friends and family. They all gave us a lot of much needed support during that time. After a few months of "adjustment", it became commonplace for me to write updates. Here is an arichive of e-mails sent before creating this website and updates after the website was created.
A Day in the Life…
Scott & Panny Get to Meet HW! OOCL Container Ship Vessel Naming Ceremony – Shanghai (Barbara Bush named the vessel TEXAS – she named another AMERICA in 1995)… the secret service guys behind us do not look happy. Note the Chinese secret service to the left behind Panny. I was one of 3 or 4 Caucasian-looking attendees – HW came to me first when came out to meet / greet the attendees. I have to admit it was fun and I had never been so close to secret service or a high-ranking public official before, let a lone the President. It was interesting to see how the SS works as the program unfolded. Their personal assistants were busy too – carrying canes, bags, flowers. They also had their personal doctors… the entire entourage was quite a show.
Sincerely,
Scott Jenkins
